He has a great shot of his own. Better to put them on separate lines 5v5 (unless they are desperate for a goal). Not a big deal though for them to be on the same line when CHI isn't competitive.

That's not enough to move down 6 spots in a draft where the elite talent stops at 14, Flyers desperately need elite talent and the management knows that, they won't take quantity over quality

Flyers aren't dropping down in this draft without a big overpay. They don't need quantity, they need quality.

If I were Kyle Davidson, Demidov and Emery would be EXACTLY who I am targeting, barring any other players dropping that are to good to pass on.

This seems like the type of trade where you should wait until the trade tree is finished to evaluate it

Tell that to every GM who saw the next guy on their list get picked by the team talking just before them.
There's a difference between absolute value and relative value.
If they had "identical" value, they would just be swapped 1 for 1, which makes no sense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>This is a weird trade. Why move up only 2 spots in the 1st round and 4 spots in the 2nd round for a 2nd round pick, this early on. Considering no one is off the draft board yet. By picks 18-20 you may be drafting the same guy. Odd. This seems like a very clear win for New York.</div></div>
Because quality is better than quantity.
CHI doesn't care about giving up a 2nd, they still have 7 of them in the next 3 years! They just want to draft as high as possible.
I hope MTL does the same thing with WPG 1st (26th). I thought CHI, NYI and SJ would be good partners for trading down and was kinda right. I wonder if now the price might get up to close a similar deal with SJ.

CHI clearly accepts. I'm not the biggest fan of Lysell, but for a 3rd, there shouldn't be any question about it.
Also, Welcome to CapFriendly. You're gonna get torn apart. Don't take it personally and just try to get better.

Is it that...or maybe they don't think post #50...there's much to get? Makes it easier to trade #61?
As a Hawks fan...I'm good with it. We have (had) a ton of 2nds. It's expensive to move up in the 1st. Sound of Hockey and Puckedia give the edge to the Isles, but barely. By a 5th I believe.
Kyle Davidson has been open about last year he tried to move up in the draft to get Oliver Moore higher, but he had no one willing to trade with. This is likely the reason why this move happened today vs draft day. He found someone willing so he took it.
https://chicago.suntimes.com/blackhawks/2023/6/28/23777849/blackhawks-oliver-moore-nhl-draft-pick-kyle-davidson-trades-second-round-preview-caleb-jones
***EDIT*** I'd also add that the Hawks can likely get another 2nd round pick by taking on another contract/cap...so Let's just see how this all plays out.

This seems early for this type of trade with the draft over a month away. I’m guessing Davidson might be trying to move the 18th pick up even further.

Even more exciting. With the probably Shakir Mukhamadullin promotion to the AHL. There will be a hole opened up for PP, and OF-Zone draws.
Looks like a big summer ahead for Cagnoni and his future.</div></div>
Between him, Halttunen's absurd playoff run, Musty's absurd season, and Smith's literally record breaking season, that 2023 draft is looking to be insane. Rimashevsky and Pohlkamp are sleepers as well

He's still listed as 5'9" on the WHL website as well, but he's around 183 lbs. I've seen him playing and he doesn't look all that small (granted he's playing in the CHL).
Part of me want's Pohlkamp paired with him as the physical shutdown guy when they get to the NHL to be the Short Kings pairing. Now that dude is a TANK

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>I posed that exact trade. #10 for #20 + #34 and NJD fans universally said no. I think in reality this isn't a great draft and after the first roughly 8 players, the difference between 10 and 20 is probably equal and then on top of it you get a 34th pick which will likely be a guy ranked in the 20s that has been overlooked.</div></div>
Yeah I think youd have to offer 20+34+54. The Geekie trade was 27 and two 2nds for 11. The thing with draft pick trades is of course fans want to keep their higher pick, but its entirely dependent on how each team views the draft class. If NJD for example doesnt like the top of this class, the cost of swapping from 10 to 20 is pretty cut and dry. its just about finding that team on draft day.

Time to start using all those assets they collected. Hopefully Davidson gets something done to get another pick in the top 12
