Thread: Bonk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>Bonk and Musty both played their way onto the OHL 1st All-Star team, with Bonk basically acting as the #1D (yes Dickinson is great but Bonk had a better year) on a team that's about to win the Memorial Cup. I just don't really understand how you can plant the flag that Musty had a "much better D+1" when all of the numbers show they performed at a fairly similar level. Cagnoni had a nice D+1 but I think it's a huge stretch to call him better than Bonk at this point, they're both projecting fairly similarly in terms of D+1 growth, and it'd be extremely naive to think that the 5'9 lefty is going to have a better chance at success than the nearly 6'3 righty. Lastly, Robinson (and Elite Prospects in general) as a scouting agency have always been untypically low on Smith and untypically high on Musty. The majority of scouts had Smith as a top-5 pick heading into the draft and Musty as a mid-late 1st at highest. Elite Prospects had them like 3 spots away from each other, which was by *far* the closest anyone had them.</div></div>

Sorry but right around point per game is expected for a projected 1st/2nd pairing D-man, especially in their draft +1 year. He plays a very solid defensive game as well so added points for that. I think he's an incredibly safe player with very little flaws but his ceiling is not super high. Cagnoni is much riskier, but very good defensively and laterally had a historic season offensively (most points by a d-man in the WHL since 1993). Size will always be talked about with him but he's literally heavier than Bonk lol His physicality shouldn't be questioned.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>dude you are over here constantly trying to compare MC to Crosby.
Just stop.

You make up straw man points and ramble.
The points were never that MC isn't a good player. Never. The point was he's not a franchise level guy and teams need that guy to be real contenders and analytics prove that.

If you can't get that, sit down.

God knows you can stop trying to throw his name next to Crosby and show some "model" that puts him to comparable to Crosby and McDavid.... he's not, and people who do such things are click bait idiots.
There are serious qualitative differences between him and those two. It's not even a close comparable. You should be embarrassed rambling that nonsense and thinking anyone should take it seriously.

Yes we know he's a got a chance to be a good young player... your hype nonsense strawman nonsense.
Lafrenière is a good player too, star portential...... but he's not a FP and people knew that at draft. But you have to get past the click bait hype machine that you think is just "fine" to get that far.

But you clearly aren't reading or have 0 ability to comprehend as that your strawman was never the point.

The point was a whole lot of people talking "future looks bright".... well future looks like mediocrity without a FP forward and analytics show that.
He's not that. Good player, yes, FP no. There is no indication of that right now.

NO FP....NO real contender constant uphill climb. That's what analytics show in the league.
I don't make the rules, I just point out the facts of history.
You over here arguing like you're his mom.</div></div>

NHLe is without a doubt the dumbest stat and anyone could possibly use and it should be banned from this site. Anyone trying to use it as an predictor/indicator for a player is just admitting they know nothing about hockey
