Dream Scenario
Depends how much they value L Brown. IMO he is worth far more than a 2nd+3rd. TB benefits because he can step in for them at centre with another year on his ELC + they can likely bridge him for a fairly low amount after that.

I think Jost and Kaut will both be wingers, but I guess Kerfoot could fill that 2C role. Taking Byram would give the Avs a pretty stacked d-core. So then switch Byram and Turcotte in the rankings. I could also see LA taking Dach instead of Turcotte, and then Turcotte falls to the Red Wings.

I agree that Nurse is more valuable than Drouin but I think adding Russell in is taking away value, not adding any, as he is pretty much a cap dump at this point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>uphere</b></div><div>I’m not sure Edmonton is going to be able to re-sign Khaira and Puljujarvi for a combined sum of $1,700,000. Khaira has arbitration rights, so his contract will probably have to contain similar terms to contracts held by similar players. Looking at point production over the past 3 seasons, Kyle Clifford might be reasonably comparable. His salary is $1,700,000. Other players with similar scoring stats are paid roughly $1,400,000 - $1,500,000 for the most part.
You’re also suggesting Puljujarvi accept a cut in pay. I doubt he will, and he’s likely going back to Europe if the new Oiler GM held a hard line on a lower salary.</div></div>
Bumped them both up a bit but I doubt either gets more than that. Khaira is an RFA and you are comparing him to someone who was UFA (and is overpaid). Arbitration rights won't help a 20-point forward.

But considering they only have 2 picks in this draft, I can't see it. Especially if they don't make the playoff or are a 1st round exist... lol Might have to hit the rebuild button</div></div>
I doubt they want to rebuild when they have a core of Jones (24), Werenski (21), Pierre-Luc Dubois (20), Cam Atkinson (29), and Josh Anderson (24), and are already short on young pieces. They probably try to replace Panarin's production and continue to build around this crew. Otherwise, they are in for a long and painful rebuild.

This is a snapshot of what it would look like a few years down the road - around 2021-22 season - the rookies would obviously be slowly integrated and veterans slowly taken away.

Normally, a guy like Fabbro wouldn't be getting traded for guys like Duchene/Stone because he could spend one more year in the NCAA and then become a free agent. Knowing that he's friends with the young guys in Ottawa means that his name could be in play since Ottawa would likely have a good chance at signing him.

Dean Brown clarified that Duchene purchased the Nashville property in November as a business investment; it is an Air B&B property and he has no intention of moving in there. That being said, I still think Nashville has a good chance of landing Duchene and I think there's a good chance he signs there as well. The guy loves country music and wants to play on a competitive team. Nashville could use him and has the space to sign him.

That's only if Stone signs and you have to account for the fact that the Sens would be taking a horrible James Neal contract. A signed Mark Stone + a huge cap dump certainly warrants that much in a trade.

How Bad Is Ceci Really
He has some good games, and he has some really bad games. Has lost all confidence and could use a fresh start. He has been deployed wrong for his entire NHL career, and under new coaches and a more sheltered role, he could succeed as a 4th/5th defenceman. I could see him fetching a second and/or being swapped for another struggling player who is in need of a fresh start.

Eakin is a cap dump to make the salary work for both sides. I'd be happy to make it a first, but not sure if VGK would want to give up that much.

If Ottawa is trading Stone and Duchene, they need some players who make big money in order to reach the floor for the next few years because they will have a lot of guys with ELC's. Lucic would make sense for both sides.
