35 goals last year and he's still making less than Dubinsky.

*Edit: They changed it and he's now worth $25,000 more than Doobie. They must have heard me.

He probably could've gotten more money on the open market, so this shows he wants to stay in Columbus. Any concerns about term or AAV can be attributed to the fact that he would've been a UFA at the end of this year and Columbus needed to do something to not test the free agency waters.

I'm probably alone here, but I think that contract is too long and too expensive. He has been a 20 goal, 40 point guy for his whole career and had a standout year at age 27. Now, he's signed for almost 6 million and for 7 years.. all while he's at the end of the prime years of typical scoring wingers.

Good salary, but it’s to long. That contract will hurt Columbus in the future.

Seems like a fair contract considering some of the bogus money thrown at players who can't even score 30 goals... If he can keep getting 30+ goals a season it will only get better as the cap should rise another 5-10M over course of his contract. I can think of a few players getting 6-10M+ who are not likely to produce the numbers this guy will generate who I don't even think has reached his apex as a player yet. Good for him taking a deal that don't cripple his team showing the fans he likes them, while respecting the game enough to not have some 10M+ contract that will only lead to another lockout smile.
