I mean he hasn't even played 20 games in the NHL yet and was a RFA so it makes sense...

True, but based on his playoff performance I think he could have made the argument for closer to $1mil.

Probably had the opportunity to take:
A 1 year two-way deal for more money or
A 2 year one-way deal for less that almost guarantees him NHL roster spot and playing time.

Good move for a 23 year old that hasn't had much NHL time and has plenty of time to show what hes got at that level and make real money.
