Why on earth did Stan Bowman give this someone who was a healthy scratch for 1/3 of the season a raise??
Kempny probably would have played more, especially after the trade deadline, if it weren't for older veterans that are "predictable" in their own end that Q allocated ice time and roster spots to instead. This contract, while a small raise, is very fair. Kempny is likely to play all 82 games next season and might even fill a top 4 spot. If Kempny is good for 20 points and a better than even +/- and a 50 or better corsi without protected offensive zone starts then $900K is a steal. He also brings more physicality than most other Days on the roster.

I am fine with someone saying that and I don't necessarily disagree but he showed almost none of that last year. We was incredibly shelter, had nearly the same ATOI as the 20 year old rookie and less than Roszival, and was no where near "predictable". He did not earn a raise based on his performance last year and you don't hand out contracts based on how you "think" someone might play next year.
