Lot of money and term for a guy who was -22 last season. I think the leafs over paid him but who knows what he may turn into

You're right about the big freeze. Unfortunately by signing Zaitsev the Leafs had to give Ottawa Connor Brown in the the trade to get rid of Zaitsev. Due to his age, Zaitsev would have been a UFA after another "show me" contract.

I mean sure we had to do that but with the third they gave us we traded that for Jack Campbell so... EZ dubs lul
