That FLA trade...why? Kovalchuk, Cammy (salary-retained), and one of Nico/Nolan for a player who has hit 50 points twice (Trochek)and a guy being billed as an offensive defenseman while only putting up 17 points (Matheson).

Totally overpaying on NJ's end here as Trochek/Matheson don't get anywhere close to being worth a first-overall + a semi-high quality player and a decent player after a bad year. Not to mention that Nico/Nolan can eventually be as good as Trochek if not better plus having more time in our system to adapt and learn how we would like them to.

Originally, I was either going to give the 2018 2nd round pick from FLA back instead of the 2018 1st, or swap Barkov for Trocheck. I think you confused yourself in response, the pick for Nolan/Nico was not in this trade, (2018 1st round pick was, along w/ one of 2017 2nd round picks). But, definitely see where you going. Thanks for your feedback.
