Description
Calgary moves up to ensure they can select Tij Iginal 6th OA

Habs take Cole Eisserman 9OA
Habs take Beckett Sennecke 14OA

I think they should explore doing this if one of Demidov/Lindstrom isnt available at 5.

I'd rather just keep the picks, good chance who ever they might want at 5th is there at 9th

I don't hate it myself. I think there is merit to more. But I suspect the majority of SJ fans lose their **** because they just did that in the '22 draft. There's already a bunch of numbskulls out there convinced Grier will trade down from #1 because he did it from #11. Never mind that it was 2 days after he was hired and the draft decisions were likely already decided by Joe Will. Most Shark fans I talk to are hoping to use those picks to trade up for a higher end D. But you have to find a partner.

Maybe on the Sharks one but they really shouldn't.

Didn't you see that he puts youngsters on the roster and everything fits if they go down?

Sharks should do that in a heartbeat! After the top 10 it’s kinda level till mid 2nd so getting 2 1sts plus a 2nd next year to trade back is a strong move! Potentially Jiricek could still be there at the jets pick and that’s who they might have taken with the 14th anyways.

Jets pick is locked in at 27, I would be quite surprised if Jiricek dropped that far. That being said, Sharks seem to have really stuck the landing with at least one of their 2nds last draft (Halttunen). Like I said, I don't hate having more. 5 picks between 27-42 is a lot of pasta against the wall.

Anything is possible but the chances of those trades happening are somewhere between incredibly slim and none.

Grier has found some good prospects in the 2nd round or later the last two draft I can’t deny that! And while the sharks desperately need a number 1D and likely a number to D and then starting goaltender and a top line right wing for the prospect pool I doubt one of those will be available at 14 so you might as well load up on high upside players, and hope one of them Hits their ceiling
