I don't think COL considers this. Overall, I think they're just as happy to roll with Georgiev and Annunen at least one more year. Malinski fits well, we probably have to try and move Manson or Girard for cap room, and we'll be needing to save money.

You're correct on dropping Reichel. I go back/forth on whether the Hawks say yes to accepting KK for a 1st. There are some ironic things that make this interesting. Hawks have (2) years until they'll need to free up cap space. Ironically...it'll be 2 years before KK's buyout jumps from 1/3 to 2/3. So we can give him a chance for 2 years and if it doesn't work out...he'll be bought out and the cap space doesn't really hurt that bad. That stuff all works in favor of the trade (of course like you mentioned no Reichel), but this is counter to what Kyle Davidson was talking about. Getting better and bringing in some veterans. That's not KK. Ultimately, I don't think they pull the trigger AND I don't this CAR would trade away KK just yet either. They'll go do exactly what I outline above too. Play him 2 more years and if he doesn't get better...THEN they'll buy him out.

I understand your logic, but your GM is Dubas and likely didn’t offer Jake anything. Hard to accept something not offered.

I don't think a single late first is enough for the hawks to pull the trigger and anything more is too much for carolina. They'll sit on kk for a couple more seasons

Not going to comment on anything besides Freddie and the Avs could be a good fit. I don’t see how Freddie can be back to the Canes. Probably need a fresh start on both sides.

CAR is stuck with KK. That contract is way too long and the player is way too "just ok" for anyone to take it for one late 1st.

This doesn’t work for Colorado at all.

Avs can’t afford another $3.4M goalie. So you have to either ship out Georgiev or cap dump another skater. Doesn’t make sense for something that’s pretty much a wash.

Malinski is pretty solid and should be a contender for a roster spot. Not a throw in piece to make the contracts work. I don’t see why the Avs would take on more cap, give up a cheap young player, and move a round down in the draft.

lets just say you are right about dubas, which imo you are not, Jake still doesn't sign that contract. there will be at least around 10 offers at 9+ mil. and there is no reason for him to take a payout to play for the canes.
