There is 0 chance CAR is attaching a 1st to Kotkaniemi in order to move him. I wouldn’t be surprised if SJS simply acquired him alone for future considerations. I think it could be a fine move, given the current stage of their organization. If not, that’s fine. CAR will simply buy him out. His buyout is a friendly one.

More like Matheson instead of Guhle.
Don't think Canes should move on from Ryan Suzuki just yet.

Both Necas and Matheson are offensively gifted, but defensively a bit unreliable.
(Don't forget, Matheson had more points than Necas last season)

Montreal is not trading Guhle. Even if they were, they wouldn't trade him for Necas.

Habs take that and run regardless of what the jabronis here are saying, Guhle is our most replaceable defenseman.

A 1st might be a stretch, but I don't see the Sharks taking him on for free. Nearly $5m/yr for 5 more years is a tough pill to swallow for a guy scoring less than 40 points.

A buyout would be more likely than them ponying up a 1st to be rid of him. Some team, not necessarily SJ, might still see some worth there. He is still quite young. Adding him for free while still having the option to buy him out at 1/3 his contract (if it doesn’t work out) for another yr or so might be a risk a GM is willing to take.

Bad contracts are moved almost every offseason it seems.

Harris, Struble, Kovacevic, Barron, Engstrom, Savard and Matheson are all easier to replace than Guhle and anyone who says otherwise is pretending to be a Habs fan just to troll or are dumber than a stump!

Exactly. No point in giving up a 1st round pick to dump him when the buyout caphit is 830k for 8/12 years and 430k for the other 4.

no one wants the first 5 you listed, savard is one of our only RHD and matheson is already gonna be replaced by hutson. stop being a homer.

Stop being a troll, if no one wants them or already replaced by Hutson that literally makes them easier to be replaced. Mailloux, Kovacevic, Reinbacher and Barron are also all RHD to replace Savard and we could easily trade savard and bring in another RHD either via trade or FA. Guhle is the best D man we currently have on the roster and if you knew anything about hockey or the Habs you wouldn't be saying he was the easiest to replace.

You're literally trolling, we're not homers but we know how huge Ghule is for that team. And the return would be higher than the Drysdale/Gauthier trade!

In that circumstance, I think it is more likely that a team waits for him to be bought out and tries to sign him after that.
