Toff

Description
Toffoli has moved around A LOT recently, and maybe he decides to pick a home and settle down in a city that both he and his wife seemed to adore. He was seen with a Habs jersey in a bag, and while this could mean absolutely nothing, I'd like to think he'd like to retire a Hab. Also, give that article about him believing he was born to be a Hab a quick read. All I know is I'd be very happy to see Toff back in Bleu Blanc Et Rouge.

Toffoli wants a long term deal, he is probably looking for the Palat deal

I think its rather the Habs or the Kings. Habs have the advantage to the Kings because of the Cap Space.
I think Tofolli doesn't want anything below 4 years, so there are good arguments for both teams.

This amount of money/term proposal is not reasonable.

If he takes a shorter deal, the money has to be higher. If it's in the 5-6M range it has to be longer. Look at Alex Killorn last year. I can't imagine him signing a different deal than that one.

Killorn is a fair comparison if you're Toffoli's agent, but I also think Killorn took the best offer he could get on the market and went with it. If that's what Toffoli wants too he could probably get it, but if he chooses MTL (or LA) as other pointed out he might take a more reasonable deal.

I think $5.5M × 4 years could get it done for both sides potentially. Any more and MTL might want to reconsider the impact it could have on their window in future seasons.

Let's see if he wants to play in MTL again. This GM traded him, players don't love that. If he truly wants to be in MTL as a first choice, it would mean a lot to the culture to have a vet like him on the team.

I don't think he is that attached to Montreal to take a discount. LA sure but they don't have the cap space. I think he'll just sign in Chicago to play with Bedard and Hall

I'm not so sure, he went on a cup run with MTL and this was the players tribune OP referenced (for context this was before the cup run even happened).

Apparently his wife really loved Montreal and I know he is still close with Suzuki, Caufield, and Evans. MTL has the cap space to accommodate Toffoli and Monahan returns - the pair played together in junior too and might be convinced to come back to MTL together as well. I definitely wouldn't count MTL out is all I'm saying.

The more I think about it, the more I see a fit. I think MTL could actually be front runner

Toffoli and his wife love MTL, no doubt. Plus, I think it fits MTL needs : top 6 could use more firepower and establishing a winning culture would help with him.

If I'm Toffoli, I'm asking for NMC and NTC. Not saying he'll get a full clause, but that bring the price down

And if MTL wants a bring a younger player by trading the WPG 1st pick, there certainly an other spot on the roster

Yall, he's 32 going on 33. More than 3 years at higher than $5M range is not a very good idea. Not many 37-38yos who are that good right now, and I can't believe Toff will be that. If it takes that much, I'd save to pick up a cap dump.

Maybe he will go back but he made it very clear to both Calgary and New Jersey that he wants a long term deal. I would say if you aren't at least offering 5 years he will look elsewhere. Highly unlikely Monahan returns
