Using Ehlers as a rental this year which give McGroarty a spot he can jump into the year after. Unless the jets can somehow get a legit top 4 RD for him I wouldn’t move him.

Helly does have full trade protection at the start of his next deal might be tough getting him to waive for the CBJ.

Jackets decline as much as I would like helly, he’s not worth our best defensive prospect. Especially at his age and he’s getting a huge pay bump next year. Doubt he waives either

I still love Jiricek but if CBJ is going defense at 4OA I think I'm down for this. Paying Helly 8.5mil when he's 37 will probably suck but if CBJ can get a reliable vet in as a free agent/trade for a year or 2 until Mateychuk and 4OA are ready, this team gets a lot better quickly. When Elvis/Tarasov/Jet were playing well this year, the Jackets were a decent team.

I wouldn't. We don't have a comparable RHD and the guys likely available at 4OA are primarily LHDs.
